Given this, are you saying that when I go to the boat and just connect my new Win 7 computer in the same way and then run the network config tool that things will indeed appear in the window under name and description? Many customers fail to distinguish between RayTech Planner (described within my initial response) and RayTech RNS. The overwhelming majority of customers asking the same questions that you raised within your initial query (Where do I find my RayTech RNS license key and where do I download RayTech RNS software) are actually users of RayTech Planner rather than RayTech RNS. Michael, If interfacing RayTech RNS 6.1/6.2 on a Windows 7/8 operating system, the RayTech Network Configuration Tool must be downloaded from the. Doing so will cause a zip file to be downloaded and saved to your PC.

The contents of this zip file will need to be extracted to location of your choice (ex. My Downloads/RayTech, etc.).

The zip file features instructions (i.e. RayTech Network Configuration Tool Instructions.docx) providing detailed instructions regarding how to install and run the tool. Please note that the PC must be interfaced via SeaTalkhs communications protocol to the MFD and the MFD must be powered ON prior to running the RayTech Network Configuration Tool. The only part of these instructions that I would deviate from is Step 5's recommendation to choose the IP address 10.0.0.3. It is recommended that the IP address 10.0.0.7 be chosen to avoid any potential IP address conflict.

This step need only be done once. After you have finished running the RayTech Network Configuration Tool, then the RayTech Instrument Configuration wizard should be executed (START-ALL PROGRAMS-RAYMARINE RAYTECH TOOLS-RAYTECH INSTRUMENT CONFIGURATION) in accordance with the instructions contained within the RayTech RNS 6.x User's Manual. Be certain to select the Network Interface Card (NIC) having the IP address 10.0.0.7 as configured within the RayTech Network Configuration Tool. This step need only be done once. (Note: I have two network cards and I selected the Realtec PCIe card as the other remote NDIS card gives me internet access over my cellular modem.)
